Capri was founded as a real estate investment firm in 1992 by Quintin E. Primo III and Daryl J. Carter, with financial backing from the respected international property consultancy, Chesterton International plc. The original firm, Carter Primo Chesterton, L.P., was formed to capitalize on investment opportunities that were being missed by the broader institutional investor market. In December 1997, Primo and Carter bought out their financial partner, and the firm's name was changed to Capri Capital.

Today, Capri Capital Partners acts as a leading real estate investment management firm with distinct competence in multifamily, industrial, commercial office and retail in major markets across the United States.
